WordPress is a fabulous open-source project with a large community following. Starting your site on a platform like WordPress will save months of time and thousands of dollars. WordPress includes basic tools like a login engine, blog post and page creating, and commenting: all the tools needed for a basic site.

However, if you want a more complicated site you will need to use plugins. The WordPress repository contains more than 13 thousand free plugins. Many of these are very stable and will do the job for many applications. But “free” may come with a cost. If you have a problem with one of your free plugins, you will most likely not be able to get the support you need to get and keep your site running correctly. The developers may discontinue maintenance simply because they are not getting paid.

Enter the premium plugins. Premium plugins must still be GPL licensed since they are built on WordPress, so when buying a premium plugin you are not paying for the code, but for the support and updates that come along with it. You get better support, more features, and continued maintenance. Once you’ve decided that maybe a premium plugin may be the right choice for your site, the problem you may run into is that these plugins can be hard to find and difficult to compare.

The goal of WP Huddle is to compile all of these plugins and gather reviews for accurate, honest comparisons. Although Formidable Pro is a product of Strategy11 (the developers of this site), the reviews are in no way weighted or tampered with.

Help the WordPress community by rating any listed plugins you’ve used and spreading your opinions. If you notice a premium plugin is missing, you can add it on the “submit a plugin” page, and we’ll publish it right away.
